The West

Lady into Fox

Where his wife had been the moment before was a small fox, of a very bright red.

He saw at once that his wife was looking at him from the animal’s eyes.

The West brought Lady Into Fox, a contemporary fairy tale, to the 2015 Hollywood Fringe Festival, and has been touring LA-area stages since. Acclaimed by audiences, Lady Into Fox was hailed as a funny and heartbreaking story about the loss of love.

Behind the supernatural event of Silvia’s transformation, very real fears are laid bare: what if she’s like this forever? What if this is only the tipping point in Richard losing Silvia to her newfound sensations and desires?

The audience experiences the play more like a campfire than a traditional piece of theater. You’re invited to sit on the stage itself, on comfy pillows under the dappled light through overhead branches, while crickets hum in the distance. Collectively created with an adaptation guided by Sam Hunter, Lady Into Fox incorporates dance, song, and stories from the actors’ own lives.

It’s an intimate, synesthetic journey.
